Orff Ensemble

The Lexington Singers Children’s Choirs are offering the opportunity to participate in an Orff ensemble for interested first through fifth-grade choir members.  As part of the Orff Ensemble, members will have the chance to enhance their choir experience and musical skills through speech, movement, instrument playing, and improvisation. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays from 3:45 – 4:25, each fall and spring semester, depending on the number of interested students attending.  Orff Ensemble will meet in room 042 (the Genesis Room) on the lower level of Centenary United Methodist Church (unless otherwise informed).  Tuition for participation in the Orff Ensemble is $50.00 per semester, in addition to your child’s regular choir tuition. The ensemble will be directed by Lydia Wainright and Camille Ely, who are both retired Fayette Co. Public Schools elementary music educators.  They both earned their music education degrees and completed Orff Schulwerk Certification Levels I, II, and III at the University of Kentucky. If you would like to know more about the Orff approach, check out the American Orff-Schulwerk Association website at https://aosa.org/.  Lydia and Camille are looking forward to sharing the joy of making music with the Orff Ensemble members!
