The Lexington Singers Children’s Choir (LSCC) has four treble choirs for students kindergarten through twelfth grade. Students are led by professional music educators, UK interns, and accompanists. Choirs perform with UK Choirs, UK Orchestra, The Lexington Singers and other wonderful organizations, as well as on their own.
In the previous seasons of LSCC, our choirs performed at Luminate Lexington (the tree lighting in Triangle Park), the Alltech Celebration of Song (a televised event), the Lexington Legends baseball game, the Kentucky Music Educator’s Association, Kings Island and Carnegie Hall.
Auditions for the fall 2018 semester have already been scheduled. Auditions PREPARATORY, INTERMEDIATE, AND ADVANCE choirs for the spring semester will take place at Centenary United Methodist Church on January 8, 2019.
Auditions last about 10-12 minutes per student. Students will have a private audition with the respective director(s) of the choir for which they are auditioning. During the audition, they will perform a short a cappella piece and work through a few short vocal exercises. Students may perform a piece they already know and are comfortable singing, but songs of preference are Folk music, hymns, classical or foreign language music arias and art songs (auditionees are strongly encouraged not to perform pop songs for auditions). Older students will also complete a short worksheet.
If you have a child who is interested in auditioning for the Lexington Singers Children’s Choir or a current LSCC student who wishes to audition up to the next level choir, please complete and submit the audition request form below and you will be contacted with instructions to schedule the audition.
