Ann Robinson, Accompanist Emeritus

Ann Huddleston Robinson Ann Huddleston Robinson's association with The Lexington Singers started with the first rehearsal and altogether spanned over 40 years. A native of Lexington, Ann received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music from the University of Kentucky in 1953 and 1955. She studied both piano and voice, receiving vocal instruction from Franz Proschoski. After two years teaching music at local Kentucky colleges, she joined the faculty at the University of Kentucky in 1957 as staff accompanist and instructor in piano and voice.

Ann Huddleston Robinson When the Lexington Singers was formed in 1959 she was its first accompanist, a position she held until 1967. During those early years Ann took a special interest in the Singers' pops concerts, giving the program many of the special features it still has today.

Photo Herald Leader She returned to the Singers as assistant accompanist and alto chorister from 1985 to 1998 and also served as the Singers' President for two terms. In addition she's been a church choirmaster or organist (or both) most of her life, starting at age 18 with Emmanuel Baptist Church and more recently with Crestwood Christian Church. Today she's fully retired but still stays active in Lexington's music scene, and enjoys travel to nearly every continent on the globe.
