Lexington Singers Children’s Choir
LSCC is made up of four treble choirs consisting of students in grades Kindergarten through Twelfth. Each of the choirs is designed to meet the needs of the children involved while educating them with a staff of professional music educators and musicians.
The Chamber Choir is designed for upper middle school and high school students. The Chamber Choir was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. for the Our Lincoln celebration in February, 2009. In 2013 they performed with the Blair School of Music Children’s Choir in Nashville. In 2014 the Chamber Choir was invited to perform at the American Choral Directors Association Southern Division Convention in Jacksonville, FL where they premiered the Raymond W. Brock Memorial Commissioned piece by Alice Parker. They have been invited to perform exchanges with the Indianapolis Children’s Choir in 2010, the Spivey Hall Children’s Choir in Atlanta in 2011, and the St. Louis Children’s Choir in 2015. In 2016, they were invited to perform at Carnegie Hall with the Choirs of America Festival where they will have a solo performance.
The Advanced Choir is designed for younger middle school students. The Advanced Choir performs regularly with the UK Choirs and UK Opera Theater. They perform at the LSCC Fall Concert, UK Presents Holiday Collage, Alltech Celebration of Song, LSCC Spring Concert and Lexington Singers Pops, as well as additional performance and competition opportunities. In 2016, the Advanced Choir has been invited to perform at the Kentucky Music Educators’ Association (KMEA).
The Intermediate Choir is designed for older elementary students. They perform annually at the LSCC Fall Concert and LSCC Spring Concert, as well as other performances and service projects. Intermediate Choir members learn music theory and choral singing skills.
The Preparatory Choir is comprised of early elementary student and focuses on early singing skills. Members sing at the LSCC Fall Concert and the LSCC Spring Concert and additional service projects and performances.
